At Russell & Field, we believe the objects we bring into our homes should be made to last. With thoughtful care, each piece can become part of years of gatherings, celebrations, and everyday moments.
Below you'll find guidance for caring for our collections.
Candle Care
To ensure a clean, even burn and the longest possible life from your candle:
Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn.
Allow the wax to melt to the edges of the vessel during the first burn to help prevent tunneling.
Burn candles for no more than four hours at a time.
Keep the candle away from drafts, fans, open windows, and vents, which can cause uneven burning or excess flickering.
Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface and never leave a burning candle unattended.
Discontinue use when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.
Natural waxes may develop slight variations in color or texture over time. These changes are normal and do not affect the quality or performance of your candle.
Serving Board Care
Each Russell & Field serving board is crafted from solid hardwood and finished with a food-safe conditioner designed to protect the wood while highlighting its natural character.
To preserve its beauty:
Hand wash only using warm water and a mild soap.
Dry immediately after washing.
Never soak in water or place in the dishwasher.
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or excessive heat.
Refresh the finish periodically with a food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner as the wood begins to appear dry.
Because wood is a natural material, each board will develop a unique patina through years of use. Small variations in grain, color, and character are part of what makes every piece one of a kind.
